Dear Blog Friends,
So I don't know if you're going to stop following my blog after reading this but I'll understand if crickets start chirping, off you go...
Sorry, I gotta vent here. (and Blogger / FireFox if you're paying attention I hope you see the damage you've done)
I just spent the past 3 hours trying to figure out what's NOT been working with my blogger account. Logging in, oh, countless times being greeted by Blogger's main Error page. I've grown tired of seeing it's notice flashing in my face. I tried countless help strategies.... Everything from deleting cookies, signing in, shutting down computer, updating computer, reading blogger help forums, etc. etc. Than I ventured to do a little internet search to see if others are having problems similar to mine. Finding the common underlying problems I've been having. On my end my computer including FireFox update said there were no new updates but alas I was able to dig up some dirt...
My facebook posting as of 2:29 am:
Grumble,
grumble... trying to figure out technology ends in a bust... 2AM and
I've reached my limit only to find my problems with Blogger have to do
with this... (and the fact that my computer's OS is not eligible for the
latest FireFox update.) Errr http://news.softpedia.com/news/Blogger-Will-Drop-Support-for-Firefox-3-5-IE7-and-Safari-3-211793.shtml

Blogger Will Drop Support for Firefox 3.5, IE7 and Safari 3
I've been a faithful Mac User and won't change. I've been faithful FireFox user as well. I guess they have no problem kicking some dirt back at me for following along. Next computer will be a Mac. But they're so expensive, have you seen the price tag? Well worth it if you have $$ to toss at the latest technology. I'm the kinda gal who wears her jeans till they have holes and rips. I tend to like them just when they're broken in. I'm that way with a lot of things. If it's got a whole, stitch it. If it's got a crack, glue it. I don't run out and buy new. I thought this computer would tread longer than five / six years. Well my computer is ticking on just fine! It's become a software and date game I suppose and I'm on the loosing side. Listen folks, I don't have an ipad, or iphone, or mac or this and that. I have a basic ___ and that's all I need. (am I sounding old) I'm a busy mom who's found her niche as a homesteader/homemaker. The internet has it's perks. The cable guys who keep trying to get us to bundle get wide eyed when they find out that I don't subscribe to 180+ TV channels. We don't even have cable TV over here. The computer and internet give us what we need. When we want to watch TV we get free D-TV with our rabbit ears. 20 channels is enough for us. I don't mean to put anyone down if they splurge in this area. Each family knows what they need or get what's best fit. I'm just saying my family has no need for the latest and greatest tech toy simply because they're available. I've been happy thus far the way things have naturally progressed. Click update on the computer and batta-bing, we're plodding along happy as a clam.
Ok rambling. Sorry.
Each time I tried to log into Blogger I got The Error Message. FINALLY, I was able to log in to type this post (without regrets). I was also given a little pop-up message that says, "Your browser is no longer supported by Blogger. Some parts of Blogger will not work and you may experience problems. If you are having problems, try Google Chrome."
May experience problems? Ha!
What they really mean to say is I need to download yet another product to use the one that's been working fine for me all this time. Your Mac version is not favorable as it's only a year out in usage. I'm stingy with my computer and like to wait until the programing quarks are worked out. It cuts out a lot of hassle on my end. Why the sudden change? Doesn't anyone realize we're in a defaulting economy? I don't have extra cash lying around to buy a new computer just to blog or surf the internet with the latest browser update. I hardly have the time to blog. So when able I try to enjoy it. This whole bit of shenanigans is driving me batty. My computer isn't really in the stone age. I go to the library and they still have computers waaaaay older than mine. What gives? Don't "I" get to decide when my computer is to old and isn't serving me right anymore? What, every 5 years I'm going to need to buy a new computer to use the internet consecutively over the next millennium? Sounds like someones got deep pockets to me. They're all in conspiracy. I'm quite frustrated. We live with in our means, at least we try as best possible. We thankfully have no debt aside from our mortgage and a few remaining months on a car loan. We don't mirror the the family advertised in commercials asking, "more, more, just put it on the visa". I'm irked to say the least. These findings have left me disgruntled. Sure faster, better, bigger, or smaller in the case of technology, has it's perks and advantages. I'm not gonna to say that if someone was going to give me an iphone with full subscriptions (free of charge with free paid plan), that I'd say
no thanks. Of course I'd give it a whirl. I think it's great that technology is making advances. I still don't think it makes life waay easier and less complicated. But, when one is in my shoes, I find it a little ridiculous to feel forced to make these new adaptions. Especially at since we don't really
need a new computer. Its working fine.
Hey Firefox and Blogger (others alike) if you were driving a car that was a few years older than the newest model, and someone left a bunch of tacks on the road with the sharp end up
only where you could drive.... you think you'd ditch the car or want the tacks removed? Car works fine, road still drivable. Stinkin tacks are the problem. This decision not to support users like myself is a thorn in my side. Or a tack in the road. If I could simply go around this predicament you've put me in I would but I'm left with very limited options.
My Dear Readers,
Have you had any of these problems? I want to know. The fact that my OS system is to old to download and update the latest version of a web browser - kind of problems?. The fact that Blogger, and I suppose others don't want to support "old technologies" so they can claim they are the most advanced, and pioneer the "super highway" is just not fair to the rest of us. Blogger: Go ahead compete against one another alike, but don't take my usage away. :-/ booo. I know there has to be a cut-off at some point but my computer isn't even a teenager yet.
I don't know what this means my friends? Thanks for being faithful and dropping by to read my blog. Thanks for leaving your comments. I'm afraid I'm lost in a time when computers and technologies were viewed a little differently. I remember sitting in school when the first Apple computer entered our school. I remember it's pale green screen with blinking cursor.
I might just have to bid you good bye. I'm not sure if I'll be able to log in from my home computer again in the future?? Guess my Mac is "old" in the computer world (only 5 1/2 years old) My little Mac OS x 10.4.11 just can't keep up with the times it would seem. It's 3:02 AM so I'm going to log off now. Where does this leave me on the road of technology , an old rust bucket? I don't know? God help me I'm so aggravated.
Happy Blogging if you still can!
